Delta Distributes Computers to 120 Secondary Schools.
A total of 120 secondary schools in Delta State were yesterday presented with one desktop computer each, under the state’s computer literacy and appreciation programme, designed to bring the world of Information and Communication Technology, closer to secondary school students.
Presenting the computers, the state Commissioner in charge of Directorate of Science and Technology, Mr. Anthony Akpomiemie, said "this programme is coming at a period the state is on the threshold of fully imbibing and implementing the tenets and derived benefits of science and technology as a veritable tool for development and progress in Delta State.
"Let me also inform everyone at this juncture that the computers distributed today (yesterday) are the first batch to benefiting schools. The Directorate is at the verge of concluding plans for the procurement of more HP flat screen desktop computers and accessories including generators to accommodate more schools across the state under the Computer Literacy and Appreciation Programme," he added.
In his remark, the State Chairman of the All Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, Mr. Francis Jegbefume noted that in actualizing Vision 2020, the place of technology cannot be over_emphasized and thanked the state Governor for the gesture.
