2010 Budget Will Transform Tertiary Institutions in Delta State

The Secretary to the Delta State Government Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has said that adequate provision has been made in this years budget to transform the face of Tertiary Institutions in the State.

Dr. Okowa who disclosed this while speaking at a thanksgiving service organized by the Provost of Delta State University Awai Campus. Prof. Sam Ukala at Resurrection Anglican Church Awai charged Tertiary Institutions to judiciously use the fund when this year’s budget became operational.

He said the State Government will accelerate the growth of infrastructure and promote excellence in all higher Institutions in the State.

The SSG therefore urged stake holders in the education industry especially Vice Chancellors, Provosts and Rectors to ensure that peace reigned in all higher institutions in the State.

Dr. Okowa said peace was central in the development process even as he explained that development cannot take place in an atmosphere of chaos.

He said it was in recognition of the role peace plays that the Uduagha administration made peace and security a cardinal programme.

Acknowledging the laudable contributions of Prof. Sam Ukala to the peace reigning in Awai Campus the SSG thanked God for saving the lives of the entire Ukala family.

In his brief remarks the Vice Chancellor of Delta State University Prof. Arubayi promised to pay special attention to the developmental needs of all the campuses of the Institution.

Prof Arubayi said he was already on course adding that within a short time his efforts will manifest concretely in all the campuses.

He therefore called for cooperation from academic and non academic staff to enable him promote his vision in the University.

The Vice Chancellor described Prof. Ukala as a very close friend who is dependable and trustworthy.

The celebrant in his remark thanked God for saving his live severally and for rescuing his entire family in times of trouble.
