SUBEB Commissions New Primary Schools in Ughelli.
FOR effective and smooth operation in its efforts to give quality education to all Deltans, the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Asaba has last week commissioned 9 new primary Schools in Ughelli-South Council Area of Delta State.
The newly commissioned schools are Eghereka Primary school II, Otor-Ewu, Ewu Primary School II, Otor-Ewu, Egbaregolor Primary School II, Egbaregolor, Oviarien Primary School II, Oviri-Olomu, Etako Primary School II, Okpare-Olomu, Arhagba Primary School, Arhagba, Baba-Ido Primary School II, Okwagbe, Agbowhiame Primary School, Agbowhiame and Makpa Primary School II, Oginibo.
In his opening speech, Mr.. Gibson Akporehe, 1st member, SUBEB board, representing, the Chairman, Mrs. Pat Ejeteh, said “these schools were approved after their application were scrutinized against specified criteria and were approved on merit”.
Mr. Akporehe noted that this shows the importance Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan attaches to the education sector, assuring that it was totally committed to achieving desired results.
In the same vein, Dr. Kenneth Egwero, SUBEB Director of School Services, charged the communities, teachers and pupils to jealously guard and protect the new schools against vandals, stimulating parents to release their wards of school age.
Responding, Chief John Ewenede, thanked the SUBEB board and the state government and promised to lift education higher in the area. He also thanked the Ughelli_South council Chairman, Mr. Dennis Djomah for building new schools in all the communities which makes the opening possible.
Chief Ewenede warned that failure of parents to release their children of school age to embrace education will attract the wrath of the law under the child rights’ law, urging communities to cooperate with the teachers to foster a peaceful learning environment.
Meanwhile Master Martins Solomon, second Prize winner of the just concluded Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) competition at Minna has been given scholarship to study up to university level by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.
He is also billed to represent Nigeria in Peru at the international science competition next month.
