The Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr Hope Eghagha says education remains the bedrock of any nation's total development and this informed the State Government resolve to develop the sector.
Dr. Eghagha made this statement while declaring open a two day Capacity Building Workshop on the development of uniform curriculum for Skill Acquisition Centres in Delta State, organized by the Women Education Unit of the Directorate.
The Commissioner said the need to develop a uniform curriculum becomes paramount as it will help in building a virile education sector aimed at turning out qualified graduates from the various skill acquisition centers, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the State.
He however assured the skill acquisition and craft centres in the state of Governments continued support saying the crux of the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan three point agenda is to bring about a total development of Deltans through the provision of the necessary infrastructure as well as environment for such development.
The Director Women Education Unit in the Directorate of Higher Education, Barrister Elizabeth Ogbolu, said the seminar is aimed at producing a draft harmonized scheme drawn from the NABTEB syllabus and other relevant curricula in a bid to make monitoring and assessment easy as all the centres will now work in unison.
