Better Days Ahead for Delta Higher Institutions.

:Says Eghagha.

DELTA State Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Hope Eghagha, has assured that the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan-led administration is committed to creating conducive environment for teaching and learning in the state tertiary schools with a view to improving academic standards.

Eghagha gave the assurance on Tuesday during an interactive meeting with the state heads of tertiary institutions, which provided a platform to identify challenges confronting higher education in the state and proffer solutions to them.

At the session were Prof. J.A. Enaowho of Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU); Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Ote-Efe, Oghara, Dr. Temi Akporonor; Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, Prof. Ben Ejeihi and Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Prof. Andy Egwuayenge, among other officials from the schools.

The commissioner stressed the resolve of the state government to tackle these challenges, which he listed, to include hostel accommodation, funding, logistics and power supply.

Eghagha said Information Communications Technology (ICT) had become the bedrock of higher education in the 21st Century, assuring that the state government would make sure that all its tertiary institutions are ICT-compliant and connected to the information superhighway, the Internet.

He said the Uduaghan administration would fulfil its obligations on the smooth running of all tertiary institutions in the Delta "to ensure even human capital development, which is one of the three-point agenda of the current administration".

Eghagha solicited the cooperation of the heads of tertiary institutions so that the government could realise its set objectives for the schools.
