Asaba International Airport:
Team of Experts Arrive for Final Inspection
The Minister of Aviation Mrs. Fidelia Njeze has arrived Delta State with a high powered aviation experts to carry out the final inspection of the Asaba International Airport.
The Minister on arrival at Asaba paid the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, a courtesy call and promised to accelerate the assessment exercise to enable the Airport meet the required standard and start functioning soon.
Mrs. Njeze said the Federal Government was excited over the project and will continue to encourage states in the federation to build Airport as it opens the door of socio economic boom in places where it exists.
"Airport construction is one project the Federal Government is encouraging states to go into because it throws the state open for economic development. I have interest in this Airport project and will do everything to ensure that it is completed soon".
She commended Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduagha,n for the initiative explaining that the State did not rely on the Federal Government to begin the project for it.
She said "I am happy that Delta State did not rely on the federal government to start the project for her, it began the initiative because the state knows the economic potentials it will bring to it. I encourage other state to follow suit".
Mrs. Njeze noted that with the inspection of the Airport the team would know the challenges the state is facing and how to address it for the speedy completion and commissioning of the project.
In a brief remark, the state governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan announced that the Airport project will cost N17.5 billion and commended the Minister for the infrastructural changes in the Aviation sector especially in making Nigeria Air space safe for travelling.
"I commend you for the good work you are doing in the sector. A lot of Infrastructural changes are taking place in our Airports and you have ensured that the Nigerian Airspace is safer. Nigerians can now travel with easy".
He explained that the state was doing everything possible to ensure that the Asaba International Airport was completed soon saying "we are accelerating work and we are making sure we meet the required standard.
Present at the occasion was the Director General of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun and his team members among others.
