President Goodluck Jonathan visits Delta June 19.

PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan is expected to pay an official visit to Delta State, next weekend. Information available to Vanguard indicated that during the visit, he will commission the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DSUTH and Nigerian Navy Logistic Headquarters, both at Oghara, the country home of the former Governor of the state, Chief James Ibori.

President Goodluck JonathanDSUTH is believed to be one of the best equipped teaching hospitals in Africa.

It was initiated by the Ibori administration but completed by the incumbent Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan. The foundation of the Nigerian Navy Logistics Headquarters was also laid by Ibori, but, completed by Uduaghan.

Preparations are already on by the state government to receive President Jonathan, while the people of Oghara community have pledged to maintain the peace during the visit.

Those who see the President’s proposed visit as an endorsement of Governor Uduaghan are said to be planning a protest during the visit, but the state government appeared unperturbed and focused on not giving room to distraction.

The Delta Waterways Security Committee, DWSC, and other security agencies have drafted their men to the community since last week, it was learnt on a reconnaissance mission, while Governor Uduaghan had also visited the community, to secure the cooperation of the people for the President’s visit.
