Uduaghan Signs 2010 Appropriation Bill.

Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has signed the 2010 appropriation Bill into law. The Governor, who assented to the bill presented to him by the Clerk of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Raymond Yabieri, in Asaba said the 2010 budget of 322 billion naira will be judiciously implemented to fast track the dividends of democracy in the state.

He cautioned those spreading rumor over the delay in signing the budget adding that it was not ready and warned that it should not be politicized as the budget can only be signed when it is ready.

Speaking further, the governor refuted a newspaper publication that he refused to sign the 2010 budget saying "the budget was not signed because it was not ready".

He continued "Government is running and we are still paying contractors, so I don’t see any reason why it should be a political issue".

The budget is made up of a total recurrent expenditure of 115 billion naira and total capital expenditure of 218 billion naira, there after the governor signing it into law saying "I assure you that with this budget we will fast track our developmental activities for the benefit of Deltans".

It would be recalled that governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on December 9 2009 presented a budget proposal of 235.71 billion naira to the sate House of Assembly after which it was increased by the legislative arm to 322 billion naira.

Present at the ceremony was the Speaker Delta state House of Assembly Hon. Martins Okonta, the Secretary to the state Government and Honouable Commissioners among others.
