Uduaghan Receives THISDAY Award for Aggressive Development Policy.
The Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan at the weekend received an award of Excellence by THISDAY newspaper in what the newspaper described as the Governor’s aggressive infrastructural and manpower development policies and programmes.
The newspaper’s board of editors at the ceremony which held in Abuja and witnessed by world dignitaries said it was satisfied with the development policies and programmes of the State Government which have led to job creation.
Former President George W. Bush of United States, ex-British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State Dr. Condolissa Rice, former President John Kufour of Ghana and Nigeria’s ex-President Alhaji Shehu Shagari witnessed the award.
Other prominent Nigerians honoured included former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, Managing Director of the World Bank, Professor Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Former Secretary General of the Commonwealth Chief Emeka Anyaoku.
THISDAY publisher, Prince Nduka Obaigbena explained that the awards were to mark Nigeria’s milestone of fifty years of independence from Britain.
Acting President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan represented by the Minister of Information, Professor Dora Akunyili congratulated the awardees and affirmed the preparedness of the federal Government to tackle power supply, reform the electoral system and reduce corruption in the Country.
Commenting on the award, the speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Martin Okonta, another legislator, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon, the State Commissioner for Information Mr Oma Djebah and the Special Adviser to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on Labour and Servicom, Mr Olatilewa Edwards said they were delighted at the latest recognition of Governor Uduaghan’s efforts at bringing Delta State into national and International spot light.
They welcome the award as it came less than a month after the Central bank of Nigeria recognized Delta State’s efforts at developing small and medium scale entrepreneurs as well as the United Nation’s recognition of Governor’s efforts to fight climate change.
The awards they pointed out would encourage Dr.Uduaghan to put in more efforts at developing the State.
