Uduaghan, Commissioner Receive Award.

THE Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan was presented with an Award of Excellence as the Most Distinguished Governor in youths development in Nigeria by the National Youths Council of Nigeria led by its chapter Chairman, Comrade Hope George.

The State Commissioner/Director of Youth Develop-ment Rev. (Mrs) Omatsola Williams was also honoured with an award by the youths for giving human faces to youth policies and programmes in the state. The award was received on behalf of the governor by his deputy, Prof, Amos Utuama.

Other achievements considered were: youths engagement programmes, through vocational training; skills acquisition; annual subventions to registered voluntary youth organisa-tions and appointments of youths into positions of authorities and governance.

which include Vision 20 2020 Committees, Youth Development Committees, Special Advisers and Assistants amongst others.

The State Youth Council Chairman thanked the Stale Government for sponsoring the Summit which according to him is intended for brainstorming on ways to entrench peace, unity, understanding, tolerance, patience and brotherly love as a way of life.

The event was attended by a cross section of Students’ representatives from all the 14 higher institutions across the State. Community Youths Coordinators of Youth Develop-ment Committees (C’DC) in the 25 Local Government Areas of the Stale, Voluntary Youth Organizations amongst others.

The Chairman of the Summit Dr. Tosin Ajaiye in his opening remarks commended the organizers of the event, and averred that the survival and development of any nation depends on the strength and energies of youths whom he described as nation builders.

High point of the summit was lectures delivered by resource persons drawn from some higher citadels of learning.
