DESOPADEC Wouldn't be Dissolved Soon

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has dispelled rumours that the board of the State Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission DESOPADEC will soon be dissolved.

Addressing the board of the Commission yesterday at the government House annex, Warri, the governor clarified that the board of the Commission is intact, stressing that everything is being done to position the commission for effective services to oil producing communities.

Dr. Uduaghan commended the Commission for playing a pivotal role in the success of the peace and security vision of the State government through the provision of basic infrastructure in communities.

He however emphasized the need for the Commission to reduce over head and recurrent expenditure.

The governor ordered the auditing of the Commission's staff strength in order to remove staff who do not have job function as well as the payment of all outstanding staff salaries and claims.

Dr. Uduaghan who stated that the Commission should place emphasis on-going projects this year also directed that all completed jobs and debts owed hoteliers be paid without further delay.

He gave an assurance that the micro credit scheme and overseas scholarship scheme of the Commission will not be stopped.
