A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Mr. P. Idion, has commended Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and the Ika South Local Government Chairman, Mr. Father Ibude for the great job they are doing in the state and local governments.

Idion, who is a member of the state land allocation committee gave the commendation when the local government chairman paid him a surprise visit in Lagos, last weekend.

He said: "I am very proud of what you and the Governor are doing in Delta State.

I was one of those who never gave you a chance following your nomination. I used to have doubts in my mind, but today, you have proved me and so many others wrong because of your great work in Ika South Local Government.

"The rapid development in Ika South within your one year of being the chairman makes me to proudly say that Hon Father Ibude is one of the best local government chairmen in the country today.

"I used to argue with the late Sir Paul Idion, my twin brother, over the character of Ibude, but today I agree that Ibude is a goal-getter." Speaking on Governor Uduaghan, Idion said the governor has put less emphasis on oil with his youth empowerment programmes, his agriculture and peasant farmers' support scheme.

He noted that the street light project of the governor has drastically reduced crime rate in the state. Meanwhile, the PDP chieftain has congratulated the new acting Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Bernard-Shaw Nwadialor on his appointment.

He urged the new Customs helmsman to use his wealth of experience as an administrator to decongest the ports and come up with a system whereby the bottleneck identified with the clearance of goods are removed.

He noted with happiness that the new CG has called on importers to quickly clear their goods with or without the Risk Assessment Report, noting that this and other notable moves he makes will make his name to be written in gold in the annals of the industry.
