Insurance Policy for Motorcyclists and their Passengers Underway.
The care-taker committee set up to over see the operations of commercial motorcycles in the State has concluded arrangement to introduce an insurance scheme that will cover both riders and passengers.
The chairman of the committee and State chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Comrade Mike Okeme disclosed this while inaugurating the local government chapters of the committee in Delta North Senatorial district at the Asaba Secretariat of the union.
Comrade Okeme said the committees will introduce the welfare tickets for commercial motorcyclists adding that money realized from the sales would be used as premium to an insurance firm.
He said the State governor has procured ten thousand helmets to be distributed to Okada riders in the State and called on them to cooperate with the Uduaghan administration to enable him actualize his three-point-agenda.
The zonal chairman of the caretaker committee to oversee the operations of commercial motorcycles in Delta North, Chief Osi Nzete called on all Okada riders to co-operate with the committee members in the various local government areas with a view to ensuring the emergence of democratically elected union executives.
He gave an assurance that the distribution of helmets would be done at local government levels adding that only registered members would benefit from the gesture.
