Uduaghan Reassures Deltans of Speedy Development
Delta State Governor Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan has assured Deltans that efforts would be intensified with the Vision 2020 document to ensure that when operational, it would bring rapid development to the State.
The Governor, who was speaking at the weekend in Asaba during the closing ceremony of a two day meeting of the council members of Vision 2020, described long term economic plans as vital for growth and development.
According to him, without such long term plans, States and countries would be groping in the dark thereby missing their mark and mission. Dr uduaghan said that without economic development plan, a State would be in constant confusion, experiencing severe clog in their wheel of progress and development.
Dr Uduaghan therefore explained that with Vision 2020, the State could forecast into the future and gauge its resources and take care of every sector of the economy. Promising to use the Vision 2020 document to prepare a road map to boost the growth of infrastructure in the state, Dr Uduaghan urged members of the vision to thoroughly examine the document before submission.
The Governor also promised to ensure that ministries, extra ministerial departments and parastatals were sensitized to be fully involved in the implementation of the Vision 2020 document.
His words "Vision 2020 document is expected to guide us in our plans so that we tackle the problems in all sectors properly and do what is right". Dr Uduaghan was optimistic that members of the Vision would work hard to satisfy the yearnings and aspirations of Deltans.
He commended the council members for their commitment and sacrifice and prayed God to sustain the passion in them as the task ahead was challenging.
Responding, a member of Vision 2020 Brig. Gen Dominic Oneya (rtd) promised that they would put their wealth of experience and intellectual depth to work. Brig. Gen Oneya expressed appreciation to the Governor for giving them the opportunity to contribute to the socio-economic development of the State.
Oneya who commended Governor Uduaghan for the initiative in constituting the council, described the Vision 2020 document as a show piece explaining that when functional it will propel the state to greater heights.
