Uduaghan Decries Delay in LG Workers' Pay.
ASABA—DELTA State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has frowned at the constant delay in the payment of local government staff salary and has, therefore, charged local government chairmen to reverse the ugly trend.
Speaking when the President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, Mr David Ofoyenor, paid him a courtesy call in Asaba, Uduaghan expressed worry over the development.
He enjoined local government areas in the state to take the payment of salary to its staff as a priority, since delay in payment of salary reduces morale.
Dr. Udaughan who said state civil servants receive salaries before the end of every month, urged local government areas to tow the line of state government on salary issue, adding that the "state civil servants always receive salary before the end of every month and we have been maintaining it for sometimes now."
The President of NULGE in the state, Mr Ofoyenor, commended the Governor for repositioning local government administration in the state.
