Delta State House of Assembly yesterday passed a resolution urging Acting President Goodluck Jonathan to commence, as a matter of urgency, the implementation of the post-amnesty programme to bring succour to the people of the Niger Delta.

The resolution followed a matter of urgent public importance brought before the House by the Majority Leader, Chief Emeyese, and unanimously supported by other members.

Also yesterday, the House passed a motion calling on oil companies operating in the country to locate their head offices in the Niger Delta.

Mover of the motion, which was also brought under matters of urgent public importance, and Chairman of the House Committee on Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Reginald Donbraye, said “the motion is in the interest of Niger Delta struggle.”

The lawmaker explained that if the oil companies relocate their head offices to the region, it would check unemployment as well as attract the huge revenue which they pay as taxes where these offices are.
