Councilor Donates Farming Tools, Money to Farmers in Umutu.
The Councilor representing Umutu Ward 1A, in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State Hon. Edward Okolo has distributed farming implements, a bicycle and large sums of money to farmers and youths as his own contribution towards his people empowerment now that the new farming session is setting in.
Speaking at the event organized at the instance of the councilor Hon. Okolo in his country home at Umutu, which was well attended by PDP member in the area, he said he was doing so as a way of alleviating the poverty ratio of his people and as well as fulfilling his electioneering promises he made to them before the election that brought him to power assuring that the gesture will be a continuous exercise.
The Councilor who is also the Chairman House Committee on Finance, Appropriation and Budget of the Ukwuani Legislative Arm, enumerated some of his achievements so far to include the sponship of three persons for training on solar energy, assisted in the overhauling of the transformer in Umutu, assisted one woman to buy Christmas shoe for her child and also paid for the sowing of the dresses, adding that the Umutu market project will soon be completed for use.
Hon. Okolo explained further that things will improve in year 2010 adding that people in his ward will rejoice because the dividend of democracy will come to their doorstep, as he solicited for their prayers and support, to enable him work harder saying that leadership is not easy except with the cooperation of the people.
Responding on behalf of other PDP leaders and elders in Ukwuani land, Chief Sunny Emeni, former member to the Defunct Bendel State House of Assembly, representing the Ndokwa nation t commended Hon. Edward Okolo for his assistance to his people, just as he appealed to the Umutu community to support him in the 2011 election.
The high point of the event was the presentation of farm implements to three families of his quarter in ward 1 and his age grade.
