DELTA State Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development, Mr. Raymos Guanah, has said his major headache was how to resolve the issue of returning unused lands earlier acquired to their original owners.

Receiving the State Director of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mr. Philip-Grade-One Clark, on a courtesy visit to his office in Asaba, Guanah said the government had already released more than 100 hectares of such acquired lands to the original owners, while still processing more memos for de-acquisition.

He, however, lamented that while government was still processing the requests, some persons have illegally gone ahead to take possession and even commenced erecting buildings, warning that such buildings currently being erected illegally would be pulled down soon.

Guanah had, while addressing newsmen on the 11 June 2009, said that the Task Force on demolition of illegal structures in the state, recovered a 10-hectare land said to belong to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, which the governor denied ownership of.

The fence of the 10 hectares of land located in the choice area of Asaba was demolished.

"There had been prompting that this land belongs to E.E. (which incidentally bears semblance to the governor’s initials, Emmanuel Eweta, but I called the governor and he denied having such property.

"We have pulled it down and I must tell you all the structures we have destroyed. The possibility of anyone coming back is ruled out, except such a person wants to dare government,"he told reporters.
