The State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has charged churches to rise up to the challenges of building a God fearing crime- free and security conscious State.

The Governor, who was represented by the Special Adviser on Relious Affairs, Reverend Godspower Agbuduta gave the charge in his goodwill message at the third session of the synod of Ika, Church of Nigeria Anglican Conununion at Saint Michael's Anglican Church, Igbanke in Orhionmon Local Government Area of Edo State.

Dr. Uduaghan said that on the Part of Govemment, It has accepted the responsibility of building the State by embarking on a systematic Implementation of its three point agenda of peace and security, human capital and infrastructure evelopment.

The Governor said while the State Government affirmed the continued determination of the present administration to use the three point agenda to put smiles on the faces of Deltans through increasing their standard of living, it has become imperative for the people, particularly religious organizations, to provide a conducive atmosphere for the State to actualize its good intentions, plans and purposes.

He further charged the Church to spread the gospel of love for one another and love for God with a new vigour as part of its contribution to the on-going campaign for peace across Niger Delta.

Governor Uduaghan while appreciating the role of the church in the State development, congratulated the Bishop of the Diocese, Right Reverend Dr. Peter Onekpe and the people of the diocese for the spiritual enterprise, wishing them fruitful deliberations at the Synod.

In his sermon, the guest preacher, the Bishop of Ndokwa Missionary Diocese ,Right Reverend David Obiosa, speaking on the theme: "The Good Shepherd" called for good stewardship purposeful , good result-oriented and transparent leadership in all spheres of live.

Bishop Obiosa who charged Nigerians to rise to put in place sustainable economic base that would attract foreigners' to invest in the country, congratulated President Musa Yar' Adua, Governor Uduaghan and the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for the uninterrupted ten years of democracy.
