Free Rural Health Scheme.

Records More Success in Oshimili North and South LGA.

As the Rural Health Scheme continued its activities in Oshimili North and South Local Government Areas, a total of eight hundred and fifteen surgical operations have been carried out in the twenty-three Local Government Areas already covered.

A breakdown of the activities shows that general surgery has two hundred and forty while obstetrics and gynecology recorded eighty-two with eye surgery recording four hundred and ninety three.

According to the breakdown, the number did not include those carried over from some Local Government Areas which had been done at the General Hospital lbusa.

A statement by the Coordinator of the programme and Director Medical Services and Training, Dr Daniel Omodon, directed all those, who were earlier asked to report at the General Hospital, Okwe to come to General Hospital Ibusa for their surgical operations.

While at the Comprehensive Health Centre, Okpanam, a community leader, Ogbuefi Onweazu Iwekuba commended the State Government for the gesture, describing it as the best that has happened in the lives of the rural people.

Ogbuefi Iwekuba, urged the State Government to sustain the programme for the benefit of the people.

The Medical team move next to Akwukwu-Igbo in Oshimili South and Umuolu in Ndokwa East.Meanwhile people in those area have been told to come out en-masse in other to benefit from the programme.
