Uduaghan Promises Increase Facilities in Govt. Hospitals in 2009.

The State Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan says extra measures have been taken to cope with the increased patronage generated by the free Maternal Health Programme.

Speaking at a breakfast meeting with journalists in Warri, the Governor acknowledged that some public hospitals in the State experience difficulty in coping with the upsurge of patients for the free maternal health programme.

In an answer to questions on inadequate facilities at the Ekpan general hospital, Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Dr. Uduaghan gave an assurance that more facilities will be procured for the hospital and others as soon as the year's budget is passed.

On beautification, the Governor appealed to residents of the State to compliment governments efforts at ensuring cleaner cities and shun indiscriminate dumping of refuse especially in natural drainages.

While warning that owners of structures erected on natural water ways stand the risk of having such strcutures demoslihed, the Governor disclosed that this year, over three billion naira will be spent in tackling the menance of flooding in cities including Asaba, Warri, Effurun and Ughelli.

He decried the slow pace of work at the Effrurun round about saying contractors should hasten action on the job, The Governor also warned against the blocking of major roads for social gatherings.

On food production and economic empowerment, Governor Uduaghan decried the under utilization of the abundant land in the State for food production, stressing that various agricultural programmes especially those targeted at the youths will receive increased funding while the State Micro Credit Scheme will increase the number of its beneficiaries this year.

He stated that plans have been concluded to position the two electronic media establishments owned by the State Government; Delta Broadcasting Service Asaba and Delta Broadcasting Service Warri, for better service using adequate funding and modern facilities.
