Uduaghan Optimistic, as FIFA Visits Warri Stadium.

AS officials of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) visit the Warri Township Stadium today in continuation of their inspection of facilities ahead the Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, the State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan is optimistic of the state securing one of the six slots at the end of the day.

The FIFA U-17 championship is billed to start on October 17. Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, the State Commissioner for Information, Oma Djebah said that the complex had received the needed turn around to meet international standard.

Djebah noted that the few renovation works presently going on at the stadium was as a result of the delay in clearing the needed materials at the Ports as well as the Christmas holidays, adding that the stadium would be ready and delivered for the FIFA championship.

He revealed that the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan-administration has a deliberate policy of massive development of Sports infrastructure in the State in order to position sports as a viable tool for Social mobilization and Youth empowerment.

He also stated that the government had put in place good road network for easy passage for players, officials and the spectators during the championship. The Warri Township stadium is wearing a new look ahead today's visit.

The Guardian learnt yesterday that officials of the Warri Sub-Seat have engaged the services of some contractors to paint the complex in the state's colour in other to give it a befitting look.

Areas to be inspected today include the playing turf, where the laying of its synthetic turf was still on going, the medical centers, hotels and the Shell football pitch at Ogunu, which will be used as practicing venues for the championship.

Officials of the Sub-Seat, led by the Chairman of Delta Sports Commission, Amaju Pinnick were busy running around yesterday to see that the Stadium met the requirement of FIFA
