As the Free Rural Health Scheme entered its second day in Ika North East, doctors attached to the surgical section were busy carrying surgical operations and booked twenty-five at the central hospital, Agbor. Out of this, seventeen were for eye surgery while six were for general surgery.

Records of those referred for surgical operations show that more would be operated tomorrow for various ailments. Meanwhile, over six hundred villagers have been treated free of charge in Ika North East since the exercise kicked off in the area yesterday.

A breakdown shows that one hundred and eighty-six were treated at Owa-Oyibu, one hundred at Owanta and as at 3p.m this afternoon two hundred and seventy rural dwellers had been treated at Otolokpo while a good number were still waiting to be attended to.

At Ute-Okpu, over one hundred and fifty were already treated as at 4p.m this afternoon.

The team will tomorrow be at Owa Alero and Ute-Ogbeje to continue its treatment of rural people in Ika North East.
