In order to transform youths and check their restiveness and militancy, Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has inaugurated Youth and Women Development Committees in the State.

Inaugurating the Committees in Asaba, Dr. Uduaghan said apart from the function of bringing government policies and programmes to the grass root, the appointment would transform the youths into well organized and responsible individuals.

The Governor who explained that his administration was determined to actively engage the youths and women in the process of governance, said the development committees would act as advocacy agents and project government policies and programmes.

Dr. Uduaghan therefore charged members of the Committees to be apostles of peace and ensure that the vandalisation of pipelines and inter community feuds were nipped in the bud.

He enjoined them to mobilize both women and youths into co-operative societies to enable such co-operatives benefit from Micro Credit loans and cautioned them not to take over the functions of local government councils.

Responding, Mrs. Tina Adams, thanked the Governor for the opportunity given them to serve and pledged their loyalty to duty.
