Delta Budgets N240bn for 2011.
Delta State government, on Wednesday, presented a budget of N240. 5 billion for the 2011 fiscal year.
This is made up of N122.73 billion capital and N117.85 billion recurrent expenditure. The estimate, according to the state acting governor, Prince Sam Obi, showed a decrease of N9.172 billion from last year’s budget of N331.8 billion.
Prince Obi said the funding of the budget would be from statutory allocation from the federation account, which was N116.7 billion internally generated revenue (IGR), N34.15 billion and Valued Added Tax N6.28 billion.
He emphasised the completion of all ongoing projects, adding that Asaba-Ughelli road would gulp N45 billion, while the transport sector would receive a boast.
According to the acting governor, the sum of N500 million was provided for the Asaba-Ughelli and Warri drainages, while micro credit programme to generate employment would be well financed.
On taxation, the acting governor said it would be intensified in order to improve IGR.
Reviewing 2010 budget, he said about N150.45 billion was expended between January and September
