Uduaghan Inaugurates 12 Commissioners and a Special Adviser.
Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, has sworn in 12 new Commissioners and a Special Adviser with a call on the political class to avoid frivolous and emotional criticisms, based on outright falsehood.
At a well attended ceremony which took place in Asaba, Dr. Uduaghan said criticism of government policies should be constructive and not done just to condemn well tailored and people oriented programmes.
He urged stakeholders in politics as well as community leaders to eschew sensationalism as ill willed criticism and bare faced lies will not elevate our culture of decency neither will it promote the tenets of participatory democracy.
The Governor said that his government will not be intimidated by the frivolous criticism from political opponents and promised to do his best and leave the rest to God.
Promising to continue to evolve policies and programmes that will ensure great happiness to all Deltans, Dr. Uduaghan said " we do not subscribe to any ill feelings based on difference of opinion because we are of the strong conviction that power derives from Almighty God. We are always conscious of the people who are the repository of the power and authority we exercise."
He said the goal of his administration is to make the state Africans premier logistic hub and a first choice of investment for entrepreneurs and tourists.
The governor explained that his administration was eager to build world class infrastructure that can support growth and economically integrated state.
Dr. Uduaghan therefore urged the new commissioners to key into the developmental framework of the state government as his administration has the responsibility to harness resources and give a new lease of life to the people.
He also charged the new commissioners to pursue their tasks with deligence and embrace the culture of transparency and accountability so that due process and probity will reign in governance.
According to the governor "You need to be aware of agencies of the Federal Government which insist on due process, accountability and probity. Be also reminded of the state governments avowed commitment to transparency and accountability."
The Governor who implored them to work assiduously to achieve corporate goal also stressed the need for them to see the cosmopolitan nature of the state and demonstrate public trust in all their actions.
The spokes-person for the newly sworn in commissioners, a former Director of Protocol, Dr. Chris Oghenechovwe pledged their tototal loyality and committment to Dr. Uduaghan's the administration and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) family .
He promised the governor that there will be no Judas among them putting it clearly he said " Your Excellency, you have just commissioned 12 disciples, l promise you that there will be no Judas and Peter that will sell or betray you. We declare we shall be totally loyal to you and the PDP family."
