:DTSG Justifies Investment in Sporting Facilities.
The State Government has invested more than eleven billion naira on the provision of sporting facilities across the State because of the numerous benefits derivable from sports.
The State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan said this through his Deputy, Professor Amos Utuama, SAN, while declaring open, the sixth Colleges of Education Staff Sports Association of Nigeria games hosted by the College of Education, Agbor.
According to Governor Uduaghan, the amount was spent on the construction of Indoor Sports Hall and a Township Stadium at Asaba, as well as the construction of the Warri Township Stadium and Mini Sports arenas across ten local government headquarters in the State.
He added that approval has been given for the construction of a sports pavilion with open seat terrace and a football pitch for the College of Education, Agbor, stating that government is conscious of what sports can do to enhance the performance of the workforce.
While urging the private sector to assist in the promotion of sports both at the State and national levels, Dr Uduaghan observed that CESSAN games would keep every staff constantly in good physical and mental shape.
In an address, the Provost of the College of Education, Agbor, Dr Emmanuel Tibi said CESSAN games could be described as recreational and that every other year, staff pull away from their routine responsibilities to exercise themselves in a competitive atmosphere. Omatshola
