:Also Promise to Curb Militancy.
Governors of the South-South States are set to adopt a common strategy aimed at curbing militancy in the Niger Delta Region and correct misinformation about the Oil rich region to the global community through the establishment of a joint center for information dissemination.
These are part of resolutions adopted during the 4th meeting of the South-South Governors forum held in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State. The Governors in their resolution read by the Chairman of the forum, and Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, condemned acts of militancy in the region, just as they harped on the need for dialogue in the resolution of issues.
They said they were in support of the Federal Government's position on enforcing Law and Order in the region but implored it to show more commitment in addressing developmental issues in the Niger Delta.
The Governors also agreed on the need to integrate the economies of their States and emphasized that such collaboration would translate into regional infrastructural projects that would impact positively on the lives of the people.
The Forum which formally welcomed Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to the meeting, called on the Federal Government to ensure adequate representation of the South-South people in appointments into Key boards, especially as they relate to the oil industry.
The meeting was attended by Governors Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, Liyel Imoke of Cross River, Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers, Adams Oshiomhole of Edo and the host Timipre Sylva.
