Reprieve For 13 Inmates as Chief Judge Visits Warri Prison.

It was a pleasant surprise for 13 of the inmates of Warri Prisons as they yesterday walked into the sweet path of freedom following amnesty granted them by the visiting Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Roselyn Bozimo.

Hon. Justice R.P.I Bozimo(Mrs)They were acquitted of their offence by Justice Bozimo who toured federal prison in Warri, Delta state. The 13 persons were acquitted and released from prison or found innocent of charges leveled against them.

However, two of the inmates were referred to welfare for further rehabilitation and medical treatment.

Addressing the inmates, Justice Bozimo said that the purpose of the prisons’ visit was not to pardon criminals, but those who were unlawfully detained or criminally charged or indefinitely awaiting trials were being granted reprieve in accordance with the laws of the land.

As the visit and examination of numerous cases by the Chief Judge continues today (Tuesday), more prison inmates are expected to be freed, released or acquitted tomorrow at the Warri prison as the she could not conclude the exercise yesterday.

Some of the inmates who were earlier recorded to have gained freedom include, Jite Asakpa, Vincent Ofodafe, Ufuoma, Oguma, Joseph Ovara, Christopher Akpome, Glory Atche, Onoriode Ogodo, Austine Atugbe.
