The Acting Governor of Delta State. Prince Sam Obi has commended Local Government Chairmen in the state for fast tracking development at the grass root.
Prince Obi who disclosed this at a meeting with the local government chairmen in the state explained that they have individually and collectively contributed their quota to the development of the state.
He noted that the chairmen have contributed to the transformation of the state and improvement of the well being of Deltans saying "I thank you all for co-operating with this administration to move development forward."

Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has called on the French authorities to prevail on its colleagues at the European Union (EU) to check the inflow of small arms to the Niger Delta region and Nigeria in general.
The Governor, who made the call in Asaba at the weekend when the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Jean Dumond paid him a courtesy visit, said such efforts will go a long way in checking violence and criminal activities in the Niger Delta region.
Besides ensuring peace and security, he noted that such move will create the enabling environment for foreign investors to invest in the region and Delta State in particular

Contractors handling the Warri/Effurun Water Project have been told to redouble their efforts to ensure the early completion of the water scheme.
The Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties, Government House, Barr. Fred Majemite, whose office supervises the project, gave the charge while on routine inspection to the project site. He decried the slow pace of work while been conducted round the site, adding that the state Government places a high priority on the timely completion of the scheme.
