The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigerian recognizes that we are created equal and endowed with the sacrosanct rights to representative government among others. The decision of the Independent National Elections Commission (INEC) to use the rigged voters register that was declared void by the appellate court is not only beyond human comprehension, it is also insane. It glaringly calls into question the impartiality and competence of INEC as the rerun looms.
Delta Budgets N240bn for 2011.
Delta State government, on Wednesday, presented a budget of N240. 5 billion for the 2011 fiscal year.
This is made up of N122.73 billion capital and N117.85 billion recurrent expenditure. The estimate, according to the state acting governor, Prince Sam Obi, showed a decrease of N9.172 billion from last year’s budget of N331.8 billion.
State Micro Credit Scheme.
About 85,000 people have so far been empowered and removed from the poverty line through the Delta state micro credit scheme.
The acting governor of Delta state Prince Sam Obi who announced this at the 3rd anniversary celebration of the micro credit scheme in Asaba said the economic renaissance has positively touched the lives of those at the grassroot as well as the urban poor.
